Restano immobili come rocce giganti

lasciando allo sguardo umano

restano immobili come rocce giganti
imprigionate alla piccolezza del mondo
grande quanto un granello di sabbia
al mare dell'universo.

Rimangono ferme le pietre alla sabbia,
Restano immobili come rocce giganti

lasciando allo sguardo umano

Restano immobili come rocce giganti

The Empty Chair

The stones remain fixed in the sand,
while the wind yields its strength to the day's weariness—
a day that buffeted thoughts this way and that,
without pause, respite, or peace, surrendering itself to life,
to its sea of ??emotions,
to its waves dancing in a movement—resolute,
continuous, soft, and alluring—
like the rustle of silk against a woman's fair skin.

They stand motionless like giant rocks,
imprisoned by the smallness of the world—
a world no bigger than a grain of sand
in the sea of ??the universe.

They watch human footprints vanish into time,
just as the sun slipped below the horizon,
carrying all its shadows down to the ocean depths,
leaving for the human gaze
the shimmer of lunar silver,
and a solitary seagull filling the sky with vast wings,
letting its cry fall upon the closed beach umbrella
beside the empty chair that still gazes out at the sea.

The stones remain fixed in the sand,
they stand motionless like giant rocks,
imprisoned by the smallness of the world—
a world no bigger than a grain of sand
in the sea of ??the universe.

The stones remain fixed in the sand,
they stand motionless like giant rocks,
they watch human footprints vanish into time,
beside the empty chair that still gazes out at the sea,
that still gazes out at the sea,
that still gazes out at the sea,
that still gazes out at the sea.

They watch human footprints
vanish into time,
leaving for the human gaze
the shimmer of lunar silver,
and a solitary seagull
filling the sky with vast wings,
letting its cry fall upon the closed beach umbrella
beside the empty chair that still gazes out at the sea,
that still gazes out at the sea. The stones remain fixed in the sand,
Motionless like giant rocks,
Watching human footprints vanish into time,
Beside the empty chair that still gazes at the sea,
That still gazes at the sea,
That still gazes at the sea.
